Love That Dog
By Sharon Creech
Hi!
I really liked this book!
From the very start
you’ll learn about Jack
who has a nervous heart.
He wrote his own poems
every single day,
in every single form,
shape, size and way.
He’s afraid it’s a little girly,
but he really likes to hear it.
And when he finally does write something
he wants his name nowhere near it.
Mr. Walter Dean Myers is
the author he likes most.
“He is the best author,”
Jack would certainly boast.
Jack sees another poem.
It’s a beauty with no name.
Maybe his can work wonders, too.
Signed, his could rise to fame.
Miss Stretchberry, the teacher,
suggests that Jack should ask
Mr. Walter Dean Myers to
come and visit their class.
Will Mr. Walter find a time to come to Jack’s class? Or will Jack never get to meet his favorite author? As I always say, read the book to find out!
A few helpful things I like to say about the books I read:
“Run and Get Mom” (how I describe the scariness factor – zero being not scary at all and five being majorly scary): 0
“Yucky-Lovey Stuff” (how I describe the romance factor – zero having no yucky-lovey parts in it and five having major yucky-lovey parts): 0
I give this book 4 wands.
This is a book for those of you who love the art of poetry. There is some amazing poetry in this book. Come on, I invite you, please take a look!
